About a month ago, the Belcourt hosted “Trailer Park,” its annual members event. The gist of it is that they show a couple hours’ worth of movie trailers, ply you with free food and drink and, usually, sneak in a fundraising pitch somewhere in the middle. It’s typically something like “hey, you know how your asses are always falling through the chairs in the smaller theater when you’re trying to watch sweet transvestites at midnight?” Which we acknowledge and start furiously writing checks to right this wrong. But that’s not really the point. The point is watching movie trailers and drinking free Newcastle.
The concept of Trailer Park is a pretty brilliant one. But since many of you aren’t Belcourt members (and, therefore, likely members of Al-Qaeda), you don’t get to experience the intrinsic joy of seeing atrailer for Mulholland Drive sandwiched in between trailers for Birdemic and The Room. But then I realized something–we all wind up having parties eventually, why not totally rip off the idea from the comfort of your own soiree? Hook your computer up to your TV (if you can do that sort of thing) and you’ve got instant ambiance. Also, instant deterrent for your drunk guests butchering “Under the Bridge” on Rock Band. Two birds! One stone!
I can’t get you free food from Hard Rock Cafe, but I sure as hell can get you some movie trailers. In this inaugural installment of Trailer Park, we take some of the burden off your upcoming Halloweenrager. Don’t even pretend like you’re not throwing one this year just because somebody dressed like Teen Wolf puked on your couch last time. We all know you’re gonna do it. Just let it happen.
Enclosed in this looping YouTube playlist are some of our favorite horror trailers, TV clips and other assorted miscellany. Hit fullscreen, press play and enjoy. If we missed something critically important to your Halloween experience, let us know. We’re going to keep updating the playlist as we find new stuff until the big night.
