This isn’t the real trailer, it’s a sweetly recut version that highlights the drama. Here’s the (kinda lousy) real trailer.

At last, the movie in the park we’ve been waiting for. Nothing against Harry Potter or Sherlock Holmes, but Ferris Bueller is a classic among classics. It’s one of John Hughes’ best movies (yes, even better than Baby’s Day Out) and still holds up amazingly well even to this day. And I’m not just saying that because I had an enormous boyhood crush on Mia Sara. But, also, I am saying that because I still harbor tiny bits of a boyhood crush on Mia Sara. Whatever happened to her, anyway? Oh, right. Sigh.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off screens tonight in Centennial Park around sunset. Be sure to bring cash for vendors and come early to stake out a good spot. If you’re going to be there really early (like 6ish), wander over to the ship in the middle of the park and play foursquare.
